If the Red Sox are to succeed in replacing Pedro Martinez and Derek Lowe, the key to their success might very well be 28-year-old right-hander Wade Miller. Following a season in which a frayed rotator cuff limited him to just 15 starts with the Houston Astros, Miller became a free agent when the Astros failed to tender him a contract in December. If Miller can regain the form he had in 2001-02 — he was a combined 31-12 with a 3.35 ERA and 327 strikeouts in 376.2 innings over those two seasons — the Red Sox will have themselves a steal.
